The citizens of Omelas suppress their knowledge of the child’s suffering and isolation with the understanding that the child’s suffering is mandatory for the happiness for all others. The delightful atmosphere exist at the expense of a child’s misery and suffering. From the laughing smiling people,the scent of delicious pastries and the air filled with sunshine and music from a flute. The joy filled city of Omelas depicted by Ursula Le Guin’s “The Ones That Walk Away from Omelas” is attractive.
